The indictment cites that the man killed his mother in a premeditated design by cutting or stabbing her with a knife or a sharp object. And the second count of the indictment found that the accused tampered with evidence by cleaning the knife believed to be the murder weapon.

Based on statements and reports from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the college student told detectives that his mother got on his nerves. He was traveling home from college, and when his mother opened the door, he charged into the home and began stabbing her. It was asserted that he made a statement claiming that he knew where to stab her to impose the maximum effect because of a biology course he took.
He is currently held with no bond; however, prosecutors have not decided on whether to seek the death penalty in this case.
